Polyester Resins

CFS Catalogue  |  Polyester Resins

General Purpose Resin

A high quality Lloyds Approved polyester resin also known as "Resin A" that is 10% thixotropic specially for laminating glassfibre and always leaving sufficient resin in the glassfibre even on inclined surfaces. It is used for all major GRP work such as boat building, mould making, timber sheathing and also some casting projects. The resin is activated by catalyst. Pot life at 20degC. using 2% catalyst is approximately 20 minutes. Cures with a slight translucent tint. Filler powders, metal powders and colour pigment pastes can be added. Full manufacturers warranty. Specification sheets. Polyester resins are supplied in liquid form and all are pre-accelerated unless stated otherwise. Resin is activated with catalyst added to the resin at 1% - 3%. See Catalyst Chart. More catalyst decreases working time. The novice should avoid mixing more than 2kg at once as heat is generated during cure which will cause large mixes to cure much quicker. Higher temperatures decrease the working time. NOTE : 1kg= 2.2 lbs =1 litre=1.7 pints approx. and 5kg=11lbs=5 litre= 1 gallon approx. All except 225kg barrels supplied with FREE CATALYST.
