Oxalic Acid

A firm favourite among boat owners, oxalic acid makes a highly effective cleaning solution for lifting rust and dark staining from gelcoat, stainless steel and timber. Mixed roughly 1 part acid to 6-10 parts water, with a splash of washing-up liquid to help it cling to vertical surfaces, it's a simple, low-cost way to bring stained surfaces back to life.

Top Tip: Add some washing up liquid to the mix to help keep the acid on vertical surfaces!
