Reinforcements
Resin gives a laminate its shape and durability, but fibreglass reinforcement gives it strength. CFS Fibreglass supplies a comprehensive range of glass, carbon and aramid reinforcements for boat building, repairs, roofing, surfboards, mouldings and composite projects of every size.
The most popular choice is Chopped Strand Mat (CSM), available from 225g up to 900g, plus CSM bandage. It is economical, easy to wet out and ideal for building thickness with polyester resin. For emulsion-free alternatives, see Powder Bound CSM.
For greater strength and stiffness, choose from our Glassfibre Fabrics: plain weave, woven roving, twill, biaxial and specialist cloth for surfboards. Combination Mat saves time by combining woven roving and mat in one layer.
You'll also find:
- Fibreglass Tape from 25mm to 150mm wide, for joints, seams and fillets.
- Surface Tissue for a smooth, fibre-free finish.
- Spherecore (Coremat) in 2mm, 3mm and 5mm thicknesses, for bulk and stiffness with less resin.
- High Performance Fabrics: carbon fibre, Kevlar and carbon-Kevlar hybrids, as fabric or tape.
- Peel Ply and Spray Roving for finishing and spray-up work.
Pair your reinforcement with the right resin, and remember that some mats are designed for polyester only, so check compatibility before buying epoxy.
