Preparation is key when you are laminating or casting using resin and fibreglass. There are three main things to remember which will help you get your working area in working order before you start!
TEMPERATURE – you should take steps to ensure that the ambient temperature remains around 20ºC. Resin will not cure properly below 15ºC, and above 30ºC it will cure too quickly.
EQUIPMENT – make sure you have all your equipment to hand before you start. That includes measuring equipment, mixing equipment, and anything else you will need for your project. It is also important to protect your working area – you can cover tables with polythene, polyester film or brown wrapping paper.
PROTECTION – always use Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) when working with resin and fibreglass. This includes overalls, gloves, face masks and goggles or safety spectacles.
