  • Description

Liquid MEKP. All resins must have catalyst to start the hardening process, added at 1% - 3% by weight.

Ideal addition is 2% (20ml per kg of resin).

The speed of catalyst you need depends on your working temperature:
    SLOW: 20ºC +
    STANDARD: 12-20ºC
    FAST: 5-12ºC
NOTE: this is a guide, as other factors, such as direct sunlight, can also affect cure speed.

MEKP (Methyl Ethyl Ketone Peroxide) is a commonly used organic peroxide catalyst primarily employed in the polymer and composite industries. It plays a crucial role in the curing process of unsaturated polyester resins, vinylester resins, and some epoxy resins, enabling these materials to solidify and achieve their desired mechanical properties.

As an organic peroxide, MEKP is a powerful initiator of radical polymerization reactions. This property is what makes it an essential catalyst in many resin curing processes.

MEKP is a crucial component in many resin curing processes, particularly for unsaturated polyester and vinylester resins. Its ability to initiate polymerization makes it indispensable in the production of composite materials, coatings, and other applications that require rapid curing. However, due to its reactivity and potential hazards, it is important to handle MEKP with care and always take notice of safety information to prevent accidents.
